McLaren is known for it’s many fast, exotic hypercars. Their latest addition is the $1.4 million McLaren P1 hypercar. The P1 is a beast, with a top speed of 217 mph. But that’s slow compared to what they have announced to produce. Last week they have announced to build a $3.4 million track-only version of the P1, called the McLaren P1 GTR.
The P1 GTR will have 70 horsepower more than the P1, resulting in a whopping 986HP. It will also have race-optimized aerodynamics and slick racing tires. As expected, the performance numbers on the car are not available yet. But the GTR should be way faster than the P1 road version, which already goes 0-62mph in 2.9 seconds and a standing quarter mile in 9.8 seconds.
McLaren said that the GTR will be a no hold back attempt to create the ultimate driver’s car. Design wise, we can’t tell you much as the sketch above is the only release they made. McLaren say that production of the P1 GTR will commence, as soon as the production of the road version P1’s is finished.
To optimize the driving experience, McLaren’s P1 GTR clients will receive special driving lessons, consultations of McLaren’s fitness trainers, race simulator trainings, and track time at six Formula One race courses.
